Cantero Palace

Interesting palace that houses the town museum, very interesting furniture and architecture of the building. Some history of the building: The Palace was built by the sugar planter José Mariano Borrell y Padrón to be a dwelling house in the first half of the nineteenth century, 1827-1830. Borrell y Padrón died in 1830 leaving the house completely finished and furnished, the child Jose Mariano Borrell y Lemus inherited, in 1841 he sold it to his cousin Maria de Montserrat Fernández de Lara y Borrell, who acquired ownership of the property. In 1842 she married Justo Germán Cantero Owen Anderson who happens to be the representative of their property.
