Colors, smells, and tastes
In 1456, Pope Callixtus III paved this area as part of a major project preparing for the construction of several important buildings nearby, including the Orsini Palace. After the project, the area attracted a bustling horse market once held in Piazza Navona and became a center of commercial activity. These days, it's one of my favorite places in Rome. It has beautiful flowers, outdoor produce markets, small shops, and lively outdoor cafes. Having a look through the stores and grabbing something to eat at the Salumeria on the corner is one of the best Sunday plans I know.
