Wonderful and welcoming
If you're in Ouarzazate, I couldn't recommend a better place to stay. As you might have noticed, Ouarzazate's hotels tend to be charmless concrete blocks or pricey resorts, but the Camping-Bivouac La Palmerie is an oasis of friendliness and tranquility.
It offers affordable rates for those in their RVs or with camping equipment, but also has several indoor rooms and a few Berber tents. The Berber tents looked really great, each with a camel-hair roof, comfy looking beds, and outdoor living rooms complete with shade, carpets, and pillows. Unfortunately, we got here the day after a heavy rain and they suggested we stay indoors, which was wonderful as well. The bathrooms are spacious with plenty of hot water, and the rooms are comfortable and decorated with Berber style. The rates are also very good, around 20-25euros for a room with breakfast.
The owner, Kimi, a young French girl, couldn't have been nicer. She helped us with everything from fresh mint tea on arrival, to booking an excursion to Ait Ben Haddou, to calling our taxis, suggesting things to see nearby, and making us breakfast. She was really a dream and one of the most pleasant hostesses I've ever met. The location is a bit outside of Ouarzazate city, about a 5min. taxi ride, and a veritable oasis of peace and quiet, just what you need after the harrowing grand-taxi ride across the High Atlas!
Thanks for the wonderful stay!
