Callanish Standing Stones

This stone circle has become a bit more popular thanks to the Disney movie Brave, but it remains a peaceful place to visit ... and so beautiful. The complex of the stones of Callanish is very large, including three circles. There's a Visitor Center close to the first, and the other two are within walking distance. This is a magical place with an unreal-seeming landscape, best visited early in the morning when the light is particularly special and you can be sure to avoid crowds.
