Discovering Cala Coves
If you want to live a magical moment, I recommend heading to the Calas Coves. It’s one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the sea: it’s a series of over 100 artificial caves that were used in the 9th century as a burial ground and were a site of pilgrimage up until the Roman era.
Later on, the caves were used as a base for diving and some fishermen even set up homes in the caves. Today, it’s a preferred destination for leisure boats and it has a combination of history and natural beauty unlike many other places in the world. It has optimum marine conditions and is perfect for snorkeling and diving.
It’s a fantastic summer refuge for boats navigating along the Menorcan coast. The access is a bit difficult but it’s worthwhile to go. If you follow the signs, you’ll end up in a free parking area and you can do the last leg of the trip on foot.
The waters are clean and clear and make for a very nice swim. The ferny vegetation also makes for excellent views.
