Cala Cipolla

The beautiful Cala Cipolla is in Baia di Chia not for from Su Portu. It’s a nice little cove with clean sand and clean water. The rich vegetation surrounding the beach only adds to its scenic appeal. Parking costs 5€ regardless of whether you choose to stay a full or only half day. With that in mind, I’d suggest going ahead and staying the entire day! It’s really worth it! Make sure to get there early in the morning to stake out a good spot with your towels and umbrella. By late morning, the cove will be full of people but trust me…once you hit the water, you’ll feel like you’re in paradise.

Cala Cipolla isn't your normal sandy beach that stretches forever in each direction. No, Cala Cipolla is different. It’s surrounded by large and imposing cliffs that shelter the cove from the wind and make for shady retreats during the hottest hours of the day.

It’s located on the south coast and has mirror-like waters and plenty of sun. It’s a great place if you want to stay out of the wind (though keep in mind that this does come at the expense of panoramic views). I’d suggest trying to avoid the beach in summer and on holidays because it can fill up very fast. Also, you can’t get to the cove in a car.
