Copenhagen is an awesome city. Superbly maintained; it has clean streets and friendly people that are emblematic of the place. The city is crossed in the center by channels that are suspended on small bridges that connect both sides. This is where some of the best bars and restaurants are located in town. If you visit in summer you can enjoy the curious "white nights", where the sun is out for months.
Disembarking the S-train at Norreport, one of Copenhagen’s largest stations, I gingerly climb the stairs, inconspicuously holding the rail for balance. The night air holds a piercing cold, my breath indifferently fades to black. The station’s exterior is crammed with bicycles, of varying quality and colours, locked to racks protruding out in every direction like a porcupine’s quills. Even in the dead of winter, bicycles race through the city’s many cycling lanes dodging irreverent drivers and oblivious pedestrians. They say Danes learn to cycle before they learn to walk. I scoff at the notion. In my experience, it is far easier to deride than to admit one’s own shortcomings.
