Sleeping Buses

As I have already told you, Gokarna can be reached by bus or by a shared taxi from Kumta (36 km), Ankola (25km) and Karwar (59 km). There are also long-distance buses from Goa, Bangalore and Mangalore. We went by bus-berth, not bad if you share a bunk with a friend, because the size is reduced and you never have the luck to be alone, the journey is by night and very busy, but very cheap and really different. Halfway the bus makes a stop at a roadside restaurant for snacks, inside which there are no foreigners, even though our bus mates did not go, we three set out to taste the food (which is so cheaply priced) and is very tasty (for the least fussy, it is true).
