Antes el tramo de nacional Sevilla-Cádiz, a su paso por Jerez, era un atolladero, siempre estaba atascada. Hace algunos años construyeron una circunvalación a un kilómetro de la población y entre la circunvalación y el núcleo urbano se ha levantado un polígono de ocio. El Centro Comercial Área Sur es, de momento, el más importante de la zona.
Circulamos por la autovía saliendo de ella para entrar en el Área Sur. Hay más de 2500 plazas de aparcamiento tanto internas como externas, todas gratuitas, así que aparcamos tranquilamente y caminando nos dirigimos hacia su entrada norte. Esta entrada está a superior nivel que la entrada sur y nos lleva directamente a la plaza de la restauración, como nosotros la conocemos porque está llena de opciones de alimentación. Entre ellas un Wok un tanto atípico.
Ente los restaurantes chinos de la ciudad es el menos chino por su cocina. Es de buffet libre, algo que últimamente está de moda entre los chinos locales. Hay un chino que tienes que pedir la comida y te la va llevando en platos pequeños, todos los que quieras pero eliges por la carta. También tenemos woks típicos, donde un cocinero te va haciendo los alimentos que eliges.
Los dos me dan un poco de coraje, en el primero pides sin ver lo que pides, en el segundo yo no distingo entre las salsas y termino tomándomelo todo casi sin saber lo que como. Pero este Wok & Chopsticks es otra cosa, es un buffet libre al estilo tradicional, donde tú mismo te sirves. Se llama wok pero yo no he visto nunca algún cocinero haciéndote la comida que tú escoges, aquí la comida ya está hecha.
Los precios varían. Los niños hasta los 10 años pagan 5.10 euros. Los adultos los fines de semana estamos obligados a pagar 8.60 euros. Los demás días ocurre una cosa muy curiosa, te cobran más por almorzar que por cenar. Por lo primero 6.85 y por lo segundo 7.75 euros. Estos chinos no conocen a los andaluces, nuestra comida fuerte es a mediodía, la cena es siempre algo suave y ligero.
Empiezan a funcionar a mediodía terminando los almuerzos a media tarde, por la noche las cenas comienzan a las ocho y media.
Nada más acercarte a la entrada del local salen a recibirte. Creo que perfectamente podríamos hallar mesa por nosotros mismos pero ellos prefieren indicarte una mesa y así, inmediatamente, preguntarte qué quieres beber.
El local tiene forma de ele, siendo la parte más corta la que da a la entrada. Frente a la entrada está la comida y a su espalda la barra, donde tienes que acercarte para pagar, los postres y las alacenas para cubiertos y mantelería.
El ambiente está bien, la decoración la justa. Sobre la comida la hay de todo tipo, por supuesto abunda la asiática pero tampoco faltan los platos tradicionales españoles. En este sentido son poco chinos y muy abiertos al paladar de sus clientes. Si quieres pan español allí hay pan español, como si quieres una tortilla de patatas.
El personal es amable, retiran rápidamente los platos usados.
He comido en este restaurante como una docena de veces, de momento no tengo ninguna queja del mismo. La comida está en su punto, es variada y tan abundante como quieras.
