Brouage

When you visit Brouage, you feel like you've stepped back in time several centuries. Little remains to let you know that it once was a thriving salt port, but this little town retains its ancient walled fortress in perfect condition. It is a fortified city that has quite a few notable buildings inside to speak volumes of its glorious past. Brouage port is one of the most beautiful in France. The channel gives a surrounding military and defensive character of the first order. Their booths, which are Spanish colonial style, let visitors know of the importance of this place. There is strategic control over the precious white gold: salt.
