Castillo, school and hotel
Broomhall Castle is hidden among trees at the foot of the Ochil Mountains, in the village of Menstrie. The building was built in Victorian times, around the same time as the royal castle of Balmoral, 1874, initially as a private palatial residence. In the early twentieth century, 1906, the family fell into ruin and had to sell the property - it became a private riding school that was only available to a privileged few (and of course wealthy). During World War II the building was seriously damaged. It was rebuilt in 1985 was used as a residence for the elderly, in 2003 it was sold again to a family and it now operates as a hotel where you can have any celebration or just stay.
