The Broad

Broad Street means wide street and its nicknamed The Broad. True, it's one of the widest streets in the historic center of Oxford and is reputed to be one of the most beautiful at an architectural level, with many historical monuments of interest. If you ride a bike there's a large parking lot where you can leave it, but by car you have to park outside the historic center and walk. Points of interest include numerous university libraries, such as Blackwell's at number 50 and one of the oldest schools of Oxford - the street hasn't changed much in the last 2-3 centuries. Coming from Cornmarket Street on the left is Balliol College, then Trinity College and Exeter College.

On the right is the Sheldonian Theatre (the original theater college) and the Clarendon Building (a university administrative building that's distinguished by its beautiful neoclassical facade with columns). Oxford colleges are everywhere in the city, but this point is quite central to say "here is the university" because there are so many colleges around its historic core. At the bottom of Broad Street is the Bodleian Library, one of the most famous in the world.
