A rugged region that seems asleep
Access its northeastern Portugal offers insights into Tras-os-Montes, a rugged region that seems asleep. It is made of medieval villages and ancient traditions within the Natural Park of Montezinho, an area embracing Braganza, capital of the zone. Narrow, winding, cobbled streets of Braganza are peaceful in the middle of lovely baroque buildings. Inside the walls, it is a reminder of Moorish whitewashed houses that constrast with the sturdy granite 'Castelo' XII century and the stone 'Municipalis Domus' singular Romanesque building. The medieval district is fantastic. Inhabited by people who seem to be out of there in their life, its whitewashed houses decorated with colorful flowers.
