Botero Cat

A este felino colombiano le tengo especial aprecio. No sólo mis raíces me relacionan con él, sino también mi larga vida profesional. Cuando estuve trabajando, hace muchos años, en la Alcaldía de Bogotá, estuvimos gestionando desde la Oficina de Plan Centro ubicar esta escultura en la zona del Centro Internacional. Al final, no se pudo llevar a cabo el proyecto. No dejé de sorprenderme hace mas de 12 años, cuando llegué a Barcelona y caminando detrás del Museo Naval me topé con este gigante. Por fin lo conocí en persona. Su tamaño, sus líneas, sus bigotes me encantaron. Desde entonces, cada vez que un compatriota viene por estas tierras, con emoción lo llevo a ver el Gato, que desde hace unos 5 años esta en la Rambla del Raval. Como luce en la distancia, me emociona verlo.

Uno de los inquilinos no muy conocido de Barcelona para muchas personas, es un felino algo especial. Del espécimen que hablo, no es ni más ni menos que la escultura gatuna del artista colombiano Fernando Botero (19 de abril de 1932). Desde que fue adquirido por el ayuntamiento de Barcelona en el año 1987 hasta el año 2003, éste gracioso y gordo gato ha conocido gran parte de la Ciudad Condal, en sus idas y venidas, demostrando así que sus ganas de conocer su nuevo lugar de residencia. Su primer destino en su particular tour turístico por la ciudad fue el Parque de la Ciutadella, donde en principio se encontraba a gusto al estar cerca del zoo y otros amigos animales, después de tan idílico lugar el ayuntamiento le ofreció vivir otras experiencias y le buscó una residencia cómoda junto al Estadio Olímpico de Barcelona para que se impregnara del espíritu deportivo e internacional que existió durante esas jornadas en su nueva casa. Después de unos años y de mucho pensar nuestro amigo decidió que que necesitaba un cambio de aires y de tranquilidad para reflexionar sobre todos sus viajes y las autoridades de la ciudad le cedieron una pequeña parcela en una plaza tranquila detrás de la zona de Drassanes (atarazanas), cerca del puerto y con vistas al mar. En dicho periodo de reflexión nuestro buen amigo se dio cuenta de que el como buena obra de arte necesitaba residir en un lugar bohemio, donde sentirse en su lugar y donde fijar su residencia, con lo cual con permiso de Barcelona, recorrió sus ultimas calles como gato nómada y se quedó a vivir desde el año 2003 en la Rambla del Raval, uno de los barrios más multiculturales y con más nacionalidades de toda Cataluña, porque no olvidemos amigos que aunque Barcelona sea su ciudad de adopción, nuestro querido gato no deja de ser un gato colombiano, hijo de uno de los artistas sudamericanos más importantes que han existido hasta la fecha. Aunque su figura es maciza (normal, siendo un Botero) los bigotes que adornan su hocico desaparecen periódicamente.
