Gothenburg Botanical Garden

The Gothenburg Botanical Garden is considered the largest and most beautiful botanical garden in northern Europe, covering about 20 hectares. It was designed in 1910, and can be found in the centre of Gothenburg. On a sunny day in 2011, we took a small morning walk to explore the more than 15,000 species of plants on display. The most impressive part is the rock garden, which was awarded three stars by the Michelin Green Guide. The Japanese garden is also a nice place to relax. There are greenhouses for the species too fragile to thrive outdoors in the northern climate. Concerts and shows are held in the park here in summer, and there are 4,000 species of rose.
