6 reviews of Porto Alegre Botanical Garden

A green haven in Porto Alegre

Excellent

Porto Alegre is a city known for its various parks, squares, and gardens. Among these greens spaces, the Botanical Garden is located in the district of the same name. It is one of the largest botanical gardens in Brazil, open to the public since 1958, and covering an area of about 39 hectares. In the garden you can see the Museum of Natural Sciences, and the administrative offices of the Zoological and Botanical Foundation of Rio Grande do Sul (FZB), which is also in charge of the zoo in Sapucaia do Sul.

In spring or summer, the garden is at its most beautiful, full of trees and flowers.

The place has the perfect light to take pictures of the beautiful landscape. The garden also hosts various cultural events and temporary exhibitions. I like coming here to take photos, read books, or drink mate with my friends. It's open from 8 to 17h. The visit is not free; you must make a symbolic offering. R $ 2.00 for adults and $ 1.00 for those with student card. Children under 12 years are free.
