The forest was beautiful
Bogomila is a small town of less than 500 inhabitants south of Skopje in the region of Veles, Macedonia. You wonder why you ended up there. In September-October of 2008 I attended a cooking and culture of the country course. If I hadn't attended that course I would never have gone to a country like this, and in the end I was so surprised that I will keep going back. Despite some setbacks in Sofia, Bulgaria, it is the cheapest way to reach Skopje, where the circuit began. Beware of getting robbed in Sofia. The first stop was Bogomila. It was coo, the hostel didn't have heating and the water heater wasn't for everyone, so I showered with cold water and ended up super-cold.
On the course we were in teams of 3 or so with local people (some grandpas of about 70). I was with a Hungarian and Turkish, and I will always remember Mrs. Cbeta (flower in Macedonian). We spoke in their language super slow so we could understand. We had to do Ajvar, which is a typical food made with peppers. It was good, but it was like being in a regiment, we had to help clean, peel, remove ... Sounds simple but it wass crazy and lasted two days, but I had a pipe. We also had a walk around the village and the forest was beautiful. It is the typical village with dried peppers hanging from facades. Amazing experience! Pay attention to 2 of the photos, we had made a breading puetne with train tracks!
