Great Social Inequality
What first catches your eye when you visit this place is its beauty and its people's hospitality. The landscapes are worthy of Gabriel García Márquez. But poverty overwhelms the great social inequality, making it dangerous to venture out after dark. My wife and I went from Cartagena by car for the day and there are at least two ways to get to Ciénaga from Cartagena. There is a new highway along the coast and an interior road passing through villages. It may be interesting, but by no means should you drive this road at night. If you prefer going later, the highway will always be faster and safer.
