Impressive macro-winery
We had a wonderful visit on the Ribera del Guadiana Wine Route to this winery that has placed a firm bet on the benefits of innovative technology and provides a stunning example of large-scale industrial wine production. The control boards which control every process from picking grapes to bottling the finished product are really a sight to see. In fact, they reminded me of something you’d see in an airport! I’d suggest visiting during the harvest season to witness the spectacle of giant tractors unloading tons and tons of grapes and see the rest of the process at its peak activity.
The Señora de la Soledad Cooperative Society was founded in Aceuchal in 1976 and its number of partners has since grown from 20 to 703. It’s based in an area of rich terrain that is ideal for cultivating olives and grape vines. It’s considered one of the largest in both Extremadura and Spain and has a capacity to hold over 46,100,000 liters of wine. Over time, they’ve focused on bettering their product through the automation and optimization of the production process.
