Black Búdir church
On the other side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula (west of Iceland), we stopped at Búðir (Búðir). Búðir is located on the southern coast of Snæfell. It was Jules Verne's starting point to begin the journey to the center of the Earth in his book. The town's famous black church (Búðakirkja) is considered a national treasure. It was built by Bent Lárusson in 1703. In 1984, the entire building was moved to its present location. It is interesting to note that the church is located next to a large field of lava.
