The Residence of the Northern Bishops

Excellent

In one of my previous posts to minube I explained the importance of the Northern Bishops, especially in the Middle Ages, and the power that these men had. This manor house is across from the famous cathedral of Elgin and it represents an intermediate step in the evolution of the country's major northern bishops. The construction of the cathedral, which was ruled by monks, makes the bishops' house in the vicinity. This is because the cathedral was the religious center of ecclesiastical power in the area. This mansion (rather than being just a house) was constructed so that the bishops could avoid long and dangerous journeys.

Then their ambition and power moved them to their own palaces. Go figure. At present, it is in the process of restoration, mostly in the interiors by Historic Scotland (Scottish government), that's why at the moment so you can not visit, hopefully soon this can be done to increase the benefits This historic building in the city of Elgin.
