The only mosque I saw in Samarkand

La única mezquita que vi en Samarcanda

Excellent
Bibi Khanum Mosque or Mosque Bibi-Khanym is the only mosque I saw in the city of Samarkand and it is said to be the largest in the fourteenth century. This mosque is located next to Central Market Siab, the largest bazaar next to the Necropolis of Samarkand. This mosque was built by order of Tamerlane's wife, Bibi Khanum (hence the name), while he was fighting outside the city in just five years from 1399 to 1404 and personally I loved the story or legend that told me about this mosque as it is believed that its architect was in love with the wife of Tamerlane and refused to finish his work until she gave him a kiss. This kiss left a mark on her, and when he sought the architect Tamerlane, he had already died, although no verified sources that I found very curious. Although not the final curiosity as there is a stone table in the center of the mosque is said that if a couple goes under, she will soon be pregnant, and supposedly our guide said it was true that some tourists had done and she got pregnant, no one in our group tried case. The truth is that the mosque door impresses with its 35 meters high, for me one of the most impressive monuments of Samarkand. The penalty that destroyed much of the earthquake in 1897 and now is being restored by the government. I think it's one of the visits should not miss on any tour of the monuments of Samarkand.

Famous historic mosque

Famosa moschea storica

Its disappearance was accelerated due to the fact that pushed the construction techniques of the time limit, and the fact that it was built too quickly. And in the end when an earthquake occurred in 1897 partially collapsed. However, in 1974 the government of Uzbek SSR began to rebuild the mosque, although the current mosque (which is not yet completed) is actually a brand-new building, as no original work remains. The bazaar at the foot of the Bibi-Khanym has changed little over 600 years ago.

It could have been a gem

Pudo haber sido una joya

Excellent
This mosque dates back to the S-XIV ... The north of the Registan Square very close Siyod Market. Itself was the work of "Tamerlane" around their battle for India; dedicate it to his wife's favorite "Bibi Khanum" but their claims ended his grandeur, both in beauty and in size. Even today, hits up to their porch 35 mt of richly decorated high, you receive the throne of Tamerlane in the garden right and left still in ruins from the earthquake of 1897 and prior to this other earthquakes I was in ruins, whose pictures are seen in a small museum dedicated to its restoration, frankly perfect. Attesting to its beauty, the splendor of this Islamic Monument

After a shopping street, the Bibi...

After a shopping street, the Bibi Khanum Mosque is one of the wonders of Samarkand and I do not like being asked to choose between different because all domes covered with ceramic excite me, combining with their turquoise Azure ethereal. The climate of the capital of Tamerlane is generally dry and clear sky (a must for my photos!). It is in 1399 that Tamerlane began construction of this huge mosque. They say a hundred elephants maneuvered the stone blocks. The story is not very clear: Tamerlane went to make war, his wife Bibi Khanum would have led the work, would have given a kiss to the architect and Tamerlane, jealous, would have precipitated his wife from the top of a minaret ... .. Earthquakes and various disorders manhandled the building ... In any case, the restaurant where we deliver a beautiful set, surrounded by a wall of glazed brick.

Mosque Bibi-Khanym

Moschea Bibi-Khanym

The mosque of Bibi-Khanym not be as famous as the nearby Registan, but a visit to Samarkand not move from here would remain incomplete. The construction of the original mosque was completed in 1404, although what you see today is not what it was in the same place at one time. In fact, the mosque was razed to the ground by an earthquake in 1897 and only seventy years after the Soviet Union decided to start the renovation work. Like many other mosques in Uzbekistan also this is actually a semi-new building.

in honor of his favorite wife

The mosque of Bibi Khanum was commissioned by Tamerlane in 1399 in honor of his favorite wife, from which it takes its name. The walls, a gigantic portal and a dome 40 meters of the mosque made it wonderful. Already at the time of the building had structural problems, over time until it fell into disrepair during the Soviet era was begun reconstruction.
