In September of 2015, me and a few other girls made the hike up to Bertha Lake while we were on a retreat in Waterton. The hike is a 6km round trip, and TrailPeak.com says it should take about 3 hours. We managed to do it in 2.5, but we were motoring!
If you do this hike in the summer months you can expect it to be very busy, but since we did it outside of peak season, it wasn't too bad. And we got the pleasure of experiencing all of the stunning fall colours!
This hike is ranked as 'moderate', which I would agree with, but it's really a mix of easy and very hard. Some sections are quite steep and proper footwear is recommended.
