Bermeo

Rich in life and history, owner of a multicolor, steep and labyrinth-like fishing neighborhood, Bermeo was founded in 1239. There are no remains of this time, but it does have monuments from the 14th Century, when the village became fortified.

The Tower of Ercilla, the cloister of the Church of San Francisco and the temples of Santa Eufemia and Santa María give the village a delicious medieval flavor.

In Bermeo everything revolves around the port since almost 800 years ago. It concentrates people, streets, alleys and stairs.

Protecting the most important fleet of ships in the Cantabrian, the great docks fosters the busy marketplace, taverns and bars.

Bermeo is a seaside town of Biscay that has had a lot of importance through history, mainly due to its port and fishing activity.
The port of this town is the center of its life, the heart of Bermeo. Every day it’s full of enormous ships, worth seeing, and you can also see the fishing installations and the market.

Next to the port there is an enormous park that becomes the center of parties and the place where locals organize activities, such as concerts. From the park there is access to the historic part of Bermeo, which is very beautiful. It has beautiful stone floors, although very slippery when it rains, and the houses are simple but really beautiful. They are very ancient and have been reformed, but they still have the history and elegance they had 100 years ago.

It is a beautiful visit. This place has something magical to it that makes you want to contemplate the view without even blinking. Every corner and reflection is worth admiring.

I spent hours taking in the beauty of it. Nature shows once more that, besides being the one in control of this world, it is also incomparable.
