Sunrise in Marajo surrounded by parrots
One of the excursions we were advised when we were in Belem, at the mouth of the Amazon River, is the tour before dawn to Belem Bay, visiting the island of Marajó, bigger than Switzerland with its 50,000 km2, full of creeks. At 4:30am you arrive in a small boat to the island of parrots, the captain turned off the engine and 5 aM, start listening to and gradually waking up over 5,000 parrots that inhabit it, they begin to fly in huge flocks in search of breakfast, almost completely covering the sky with their cries of good morning.
