Locals are very friendly

Beaumaris Castle is famous, at least in Wales, but the people talk about it very little, even in official guides. This is why we were quite surprised when we found a colorful and most welcoming seaside town. It is located on the north coast of Anglesey, close to the junction with the main island. The characteristic houses are painted in different colors and create a rather curious polychromy for visitors. This is a common factor in the Hebrides of Scotland. It is supposed to be an ancient tradition, according to which each family's house was painted a color that a sailor could see on his return by sea.

The heart of Wales

Excellent

Beaumaris is the main port and town on Anglesey Island, which is considered to be the heart of Wales. It is famous for hiking, sailing, and other water sports. You can visit the castle (with an admission fee) that stands above the Strait of Manai. It is a very pretty town. We stopped for a fish and chips lunch and came across a group of colorful houses, each of which sold handicrafts. I recommend visiting it.
