Yellow Bastion

El Bastión Amarillo (o “Žuta tabija” en idioma bosnio) es uno de los mejores y más populares puntos de observación de la ciudad de Sarajevo, en Bosnia y Herzegovina. Se trata de una sección de las antiguas murallas que fueron construidas durante el Siglo XVIII para proteger la ciudad. Todos los años, un disparo de cañón desde lo alto del Bastión Amarillo de Sarajevo marca el inicio del Ramadán entre la comunidad musulmana. Sin lugar a duda, este es uno de mis sitios favoritos en la capital bosnia. Es imposible describir lo increíble que es ver toda la ciudad desde ahí arriba, desde sus mezquitas hasta el mítico hotel Holiday Inn. Si bien hasta hace algunos años este era un lugar más bien fuera de la ruta turística, recientemente se han abierto varios pequeños hoteles alrededor e incluso un café al lado del bastión mismo. Para llegar al bastión puedes tomar un taxi o un autobús desde el centro de Sarajevo, aunque yo recomiendo hacer el recorrido a pie y perderte un poco ente los callejones más encantadores de la capital bosnia.

The Yellow Bastion (or "Žuta tabija" in the Bosnian language) is one of the best and most popular observation points in the city of Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a section of the old walls that were built during the 18th century to protect the city. Every year, a cannon shot from the top of Sarajevo"s Yellow Bastion marks the beginning of Ramadan among the Muslim community. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite places in the Bosnian capital. It is impossible to describe how amazing it is to see the whole city from up there, from its mosques to the mythical Holiday Inn. Although until a few years ago this was a rather out of the tourist route, recently there have been several small hotels around and even a cafe next to the bastion itself. To get to the bastion you can take a taxi or a bus from the center of Sarajevo, although I recommend doing the tour on foot and get lost a bit in the most charming alleys of the Bosnian capital.
