2nd biggest city in Corsica with a charm
Bastia is the 2nd biggest city in Corsica after Ajaccio, but it still has a charm. It is also the biggest city on the island from the economic standpoint and is always full of workers and has a great atmosphere. The most significant area is the square of St. Nicholas, which is next to the harbor and is pedestrian. This square of almost 300 meters has a flea market every Sunday that is interesting and it is surrounded by cafes and restaurants which have a warm terraces where you can enjoy watching the environment. There are also many palm trees that offer shady which is needed in the summer. There are outdoor concerts.
The rest of the city center consists of narrow streets that have high buildings are painted with pastels. As the streets are narrow, it is common to see lines ranging from one building to the other, I found it interesting and and it makes you think that you have to get along with the neighbors by force. In Bastia there are also many churches like the Roch ST chapel or church of San Juan Bautista which are worth visiting, especially, St. John the Baptist, which has 2 lovely towers and a huge facade. To reach the highest part of the city, located on a hill, you can take a lovely verdant path that arises before entering the citadel.
