Basso Fortress

La Fortezza da Basso è una gigantesca fortezza di forma pentagonale, nata come opera di fortificazione per Firenze. Fu costruita nella prima metà del '500 per ordine di Alessandro de' Medici per assicurare il controllo della città. Circondata dai viali di Circonvallazione è oggi sede di numerosi convegni, meeting, concerti ed iniziative nazionali ed internazionali per Firenze Fiera, con diversi padiglioni espositivi all'interno. Rimane comunque l'imponenza della struttura e la sua robustezza con mura spesse e resistenti. All'esterno è presente un piccolo parco con laghetto, fontana e molto verde. Qui ogni terza domenica del mese, tutt'intorno al laghetto e nel prato, è presente un simpatico mercatino dell'antiquariato.

Surrounded by the ring road is now home to numerous conferences, meetings, concerts and national and international initiatives to Firenze Fiera, with several exhibition halls inside. It remains the grandeur of the structure and its robustness with thick walls and strong. Outside there is a small park with a pond, fountain and very green. Here, every third Sunday of the month, around the pond and in the meadow, there is a nice antique market.

La Fortezza Da Basso è una grande fortificazione di origine medicea, costruita nel '500 a difesa della città. Nel tempo tuttavia la sua funzione è naturalmente assai cambiata. Oggi si tratta di un punto di incontro in cui organizzare fiere e convegni. Da quest'anno la Fortezza è diventata sede della quinta edizione del BTO _ Buy Tourism Online, uno dei più importanti eventi del settore turistico. La visita nella parte interna delle mura è proibita ai visitatori.
