Coppedè Quarter

The Coppedé Quartiere or neighborhood, is one of the most beautiful in Rome, and also one of the most unknown to tourists. The neighborhood is named after the Florentine architect Gino Coppedé, who was a designer of the early twentieth century, before the advent of Fascism, between 1913 and 1921. The Quartiere is composed of seventeen houses and twenty-six buildings all around the Piazza Mincio. Coppedè, the main entrance, is on the Via Tagliamento, and entered by a large arch connecting two buildings. One thing that rather surprised me was seeing the huge wrought iron chandelier in the ceiling of the arch.

The bow is decorated with numerous architectural elements. The most beautiful and quirky is the "House of the Fairies" features a mix of styles, with arcades and arches that adorn the facade with colorful friezes and medieval images.
