Balna Budapest

Sin lugar a duda, el edificio conocido como “Bálna” (Ballena en idioma húngaro) es uno de los más peculiares de la ciudad de Budapest. Se encuentra a orillas del río Danubio, en una zona cercana al Parque Nehru, y no demasiado lejos del Mercado Central de Budapest. El edificio comenzó a ser construido en el 2009, y fue inaugurado cuatro años más tarde, el 8 de noviembre de 2013. Se trata de un complejo cultural y un centro comercial, principalmente dedicado a productos típicos húngaros, artesanías locales y exposiciones artísticas. Si bien el exterior es quizás la parte más imponente del edificio, merece la pena entrar y descubrir la oferta, que cambia de acuerdo con la temporada. En la parte superior del edificio hay un mirador, desde el cual se tiene una vista espectacular tanto del Danubio como de los edificios en Buda, y la famosa Estatua de la Libertad en la colina Gellert.

Undoubtedly, the building known as "Bálna" (whale in Hungarian language) is one of the most peculiar of the city of Budapest. It is located on the banks of the Danube River, in an area close to the Nehru Park, and not too far from the Central Market of Budapest. The building began to be built in 2009, and was inaugurated four years later, on November 8, 2013. It is a cultural complex and a shopping center, mainly dedicated to typical Hungarian products, local handicrafts and artistic exhibitions. While the exterior is perhaps the most imposing part of the building, it is worth entering and discovering the offer, which changes according to the season. At the top of the building there is a viewpoint, from which you have a spectacular view of both the Danube and the buildings in Buda, and the famous Statue of Liberty on Gellert Hill.
