Bakio Beach

La playa de Bakio es una de las playas más largas de todo el litoral vizcaíno, de ahí que sea una playa habitualmente muy frecuentada por vizcaínos llegados desde muchos y diferentes destinos. Además, Bakio es un sitio turístico y de veraneo muy habitual donde mucha gente que vive en el interior de Bizkaia tiene allí su segunda vivienda. Es una playa en forma de media luna, bastante abierta al mar, y con más de un kilómetro de longitud. Una serie de rocas bastante grandes dividen la playa en dos grandes partes. Con marea baja se puede pasar andando de una parte a otra, pero con marea alta la cosa se complica bastante y no es muy recomendable pasar nadando entre rocas debido al fuerte oleaje que suele haber en esta zona. De hecho, debido a que es una playa muy abierta y con mucho oleaje, muchos surferos de la zona acuden a ella para practicar aquí su deporte favorito. Dispone de un paseo marítimo paralelo a la playa, que en forma de media luna o en curva, permite obtener unas excelentes panorámicas de la zona, tanto de la playa como de la Ermita de San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, rincón que se empieza a ver a lo lejos de la mitad de la playa o paseo en adelante, en sentido Bilbao. Significar que esta segunda parte de la playa más cercana a la desembocadura del río Estepona tiene en su orilla más piedritas que la primera parte más cercana a las peñas que dividen en dos la playa. Respecto a la zona de la playa situada al otro lado de las mencionadas rocas, decir que esta zona de playa es sin duda más salvaje y solitaria, ya que tras ella da comienzo la zona de verticales acantilados que van hasta San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Es una playa menos frecuentada por bañitas, aunque frecuentada por surfers, y donde uno puede estar algo más tranquilo y sin agobios, sobre todo en época de verano cuando la parte principal de la playa suele estar bastante abarrotada.

En lo que respecta al uso de la playa por aquellos que no practicamos el surf es nula, la zona en la que se nos permite entrar al mar es de una quinta parte de la playa, he pedido explicaciones a el socorrista que no para de mover la bandera roja reduciendo en todo momento el acceso al mar no a sido convincente ni lógica, los usuarios de la playa en mas de un 80% no somos surfistas y nos vemos obligados a concentrarnos en una zona reducida para poder refrescarnos y es algo muy agobiante mientras que en el resto de la playa la orilla esta vacía ya que los socorristas no permiten el uso. He mirado la pagina del correo digital y es curioso que en ella dice que el baño es libre, pero libre para quien??????? Por que no poner un cartel en la entrada a Bakio en el que diga que el baño es exclusivo para surfistas??? Desde pequeña he ido a esa playa y he de decir que cada año es peor y no solo por que hoy en día los socorristas no nos dejan acceder al mar si no por que desde hace 3 años la playa no se limpia de piedras y eso también dificulta el disfrute de la misma tanto para niños que no pueden jugar como para los adultos que no se puede pasear por la orilla, pueden poner mil excusas pero seguirán siendo excusas para no acondicionar la playa.
