Bagheria

I went to Bagheria for a wedding, and the truth is that it was a pleasant stay. From the house where we were staying we had amazing views of the Guttuso Museum (a famous Italian painter of the twentieth century. It is also the birthplace of Giuseppe Tornatore, a famous Italian film director. It so happens that in 2009 they filmed in a movie about his town, a "colossal" set in the 40s, and they called the film by the name of the city, but as the locals call it in their dialect, "Baaria". It also has some lovely old houses, but which cannot all cases be visited. In the surrounding area there are some beautiful beaches, but unfortunately they seem to be somewhat neglected.

That is a great shame as the sea in some places is totally clear, and would be the envy of beaches anywhere. One of the local dishes is the "Pane e Panelle" and is a sandwich made with fried chickpea flour dough, and which in fact is really delicious!
