A railway tribute
In the southern part of Paseo General Lobo, you'll find a railway tribute embodied by this old steam locomotive, model 030, donated by a Spanish sugar company. The arrival of the railway in San Fernando, on 13 March 1861, marked a definite change in fortunes: the city stopped depending on an economy based almost exclusively on fishing. Therefore, this statue plays tribute to the importance of the railroad in urban economic life.
