Ayna

In my opinion, it’s the best town in the South of Albacete, together with Letur. It’s one of the top tourist destinations that people from Alicante and Murcia visit when they want to head to the mountains and enjoy a bit of nature.

Set on the rock on the hillside of a mountain that seems like it’s from Western America, Ayna provides visitors with an unmistakable peace, a perfect temperature in the summer, and a mountainous climate in the winter.

It’s an ideal place to stay if you’re spending the weekend in the area. There are good restaurants, bakeries and places to stay, as well as many things to do in the surrounding area like walking through the heart of the woods, along the Segura river, or excursions to the top of the mountain.

Located in the heart of the mountain, Ayna is a precious town that guards its own important history. It still conserves the original irrigation system created by the Arabs. For tourists, you can see some incredible views from the Diablo viewpoint of a place that will later tempt you to get lost roaming through its tight, narrow streets.

One of its most interesting tourist attraction is that it was the chosen place for Jose Luis Cuerda as center of operations for the filming of the extraordinary flm “Amanece, que no es poco.” And in each one of the places that it was filmed in, there’s a commemorative plaque and sometimes even a recreation of what occurred.
