A small but great village
Atzara is really a small town (only 1,224 inhabitants in 2012) but it has everything you need for a great day-trip or long weekend. It’s surrounded by wooded mountains, rich wildlife like wild boar, foxes, and hedgehogs; and a variety of cultural attractions that’ll make for a really memorable trip. I’d suggest visiting the Romanesque Church of Sant’Antioco and the Giants’ Tomb nearby. Also, they hold a Wine Festival in Atzara the second Sunday of May, just in case you need another excuse to visit!
