Asturcón Festival

La Fiesta del Asturcón, que desde hace treinta años se celebra en la Majada de Espineres, en el corazón del Sueve, entre los concejos de Colunga y Piloña, es uno de los referentes festivos de nuestra comarca y del resto del Principado de Asturias. Esta fiesta tradicional y singular, no dejará indiferente a nadie. Declarada de Interés Turístico Regional, acontece el penúltimo sábado de agosto. Se trata de un evento en el que se aúnan folclore, naturaleza y tradición. Los caballos por antonomasia de Asturias, los asturcones, y sus criadores encuentran en esta cita su más alto grado de sintonía en medio de todo un ambiente festivo. El Asturcón es un caballo autóctono, de pelaje negro-azabache, adaptado especialmente a la naturaleza asturiana, que antaño estuvo en vías de extinción. La celebración se inicia por la mañana con exhibición de deportes tradicionales, misa de campaña, la entrega de la placa conmemorativa al “Pastor Mayor del Sueve”, bandas de gaitas, charangas… aunque el plato fuerte de la jornada, llega por la tarde con el marcaje y doma de potros, un espectáculo que hay que disfrutar al menos una vez en la vida. La lucha del caballo por su libertad en un marco paisajístico tan hermoso y con la música de gaitas de fondo, hacen de ese momento una atmósfera que envuelve el recuerdo y hace mágica esta fiesta, donde además se permite acampar la noche antes en un lugar donde el cielo parece más cerca que nunca.

The Asturcón Party, which for thirty years was held in the flock of Espineres, in the heart of Sueve between Colunga and Piloña councils, is one of the leaders of our region holidays and the rest of the Principality of Asturias. This traditional festival and singular, not leave anyone indifferent. Declared of Regional Tourist Interest, occurs on the penultimate Saturday of August. It is an event which combine folklore, nature and tradition. Horses quintessential Asturias, the asturcones, and their breeders are in this quote the highest degree of harmony in the midst of a festive atmosphere. The Asturcón is a native horse, jet-black fur, specially adapted to the nature of Asturias, who once was in danger of extinction. The celebration begins in the morning with traditional sports display, air mass, delivering the commemorative plaque "Sueve Senior Pastor", pipe bands, brass bands ... but the highlight of the day comes in the evening with marking and dressage ponies, a spectacle to be enjoyed at least once in life. The horse fight for his freedom in a beautiful landscaped setting as the background music of bagpipes, then make an atmosphere that envelops the memory and magic makes this festival, which also allows camping the night before at a place where the sky seems closer than ever.
