Full of charm
Assisi (Assisi in Castilian) serves as the cradle and tomb of St Francis of Assisi. Its origin appears to be an Etruscan settlement dating from 450 BC After the battle of Sentinum in 259 BC. Under the Roman Empire, it was converted to Christianity by bishop Rufino in the year 238 AD. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. Built on the slopes of Mount Subasio and protected by a wall of about three miles in length and the Fortress Rocca Maggiore stationed at its highest point. Enter through one of the gates and see the walls, in our case, we chose the San Francisco, and you will start to see small and steep medieval streets with pointed arches and balconies full of flowers.
