Aroma Walk

Quizás “Hiking Urbano” es el término que mejor describe la caminata por el “Aroma Walk” en la zona de North Point. Se trata de un largo e inclinado camino peatonal entre la avenida Kings y la Calle Temple en la Isla de Hong Kong en el que se está rodeado totalmente de naturaleza selvática. La caminata comienza con una serie de escaleras en la salida de la estación “North Point” del Metro de Hong Kong. Es una batalla entre la naturaleza y la civilización; los gigantescos rascacielos residenciales que caracterizan a la Isla de Hong Kong ceden poco a poco el paso a la humedad y los árboles frondosos originarios de la región. De pronto los edificios desaparecen (o apenas se asoman entre los árboles), y la inmersión es total. Es una de las situaciones más extrañas que ocurren en Hong Kong. Estás parado en la ciudad más congestionada que conoces, y de pronto apareces en un escenario digno de alguna selva centroamericana. En el cartel que indica el comienzo del “Aroma Walk” se menciona que el parque es en realidad una iniciativa del gobierno local que busca preservar aunque sea un poco de naturaleza en la zona. Siendo el camino más directo entre dos avenidas principales, no es difícil encontrar otros peatones por el lugar. Es un sitio excelente para respirar algo de aire limpio en medio de la ciudad.

The walk begins with a set of stairs at the exit of the station Metro North Point Hong Kong. It is a battle between nature and civilization; the huge residential skyscrapers that characterize the island of Hong Kong gradually give up moisture over the lush trees and originating in the region. Suddenly the buildings disappear (or just peek through the trees) and the immersion is total. It is one of the most extraas situations that occur in Hong Kong. Ests standing in the most congested city you know, and suddenly you appear in a worthy setting for a Central American jungle. In the sign indicating the beginning of Aroma Walk it mentioned that the park is actually a local government initiative that seeks to preserve even a bit of nature in the area. Being the most direct path between two main avenues, it is not difficult to find other pedestrians by. It is an excellent place to breathe some fresh air in the middle of the city.
