A premier medical college

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was established in 1948 in the period immediately following World War 2. From the Commission of Roy's recommendations, the remnants of the Indian Medical Corps units were merged into one unit to create the Armed Forces Medical College. In the past 50 years, it has grown in its functions and has become one of the premier medical colleges of the country.
