Diverse collections
The Arizona State Museum, currently operated by the University of Arizona, is located in Tucson and was founded in 1893 originally as a repository for the collection and protection of archaeological resources. Within its large, diverse collections you can find historical artifacts found in excavations, as well as contemporary works, including pottery, jewelry, baskets, textiles and clothing. It also has ethnological items (those not acquired from the excavation) which have been donated by Native American tribes.
