Overlooking the Hebrides

On the west coast of the "Highlands", leaving the domain of Argyll and entering Lochaber, there are a number of coastal towns with beaches and views of the Hebrides. One is the village of Arisaig, which is practically on the coast in a small natural bay. Most of the town's activity occurs on a main road, where there are shops, post offices and the hotel pub and restaurant. On the other side, there is a small fishing harbour and a lovely walk by the sea, with direct views of the islands of Eigg and Muck. Historically, this location had some importance in the 17th century during the Jacobite uprising.
