Reasonable Prices
The Arepera Las Nieves is not a delicatessen or nouvelle cuisine restaurant, it's just a normal, but special place. For those who aren't familiar with it, they have circular cornmeal cakes, kind of like a Donner Kebab bread, but hot and a little smaller. Here, the "arepa" is fried, as in most of the island's local restaurants, with one exception. I recommend ordering a meatloaf arepa and a queen Pepiada to satisfy your hunger, and a good canary beer. If you're coming from Madrid, the prices will seem almost ridiculous. You can get two arepas and a half litre of beer for € 6.50 (February 2009) and I can assure you that it's enough food for a good dinner.
They also have a variety of sandwiches for reasonable prices and other Venezuelan specialties like "Cassava" or "Cachapas". Directions: If you are in Santa Cruz de La Palma, first ask for "the ship of the Virgin" and once you are there, ask for "Palmatronics", which is the Philips distributor next to the cafeteria.
