Archivio di Stato

L' Archivio di Stato di Brindisi si trova, dal 1990, accanto alla Chiesa di Santa Teresa, sede del Museo Diocesano. Si tratta di un edificio di particolare interesse storico e artistico in quanto sede dell'ex convento di Santa Teresa, costruito nel '600 dai Carmelitani Scalzi. Nell' '800 fu usato poi come caserma, la caserma Manthonè, e in seguito abbandonato. La struttura presenta le caratteristiche tipiche dei conventi, con un cortile interno a pianta quadrata. L'Archivio conserva più di 50.000 pezzi cartacei, buste, pacchi, registri e ben 95 pergamene datate XV-XIX sec Inoltre nel chiostro è spesso possibile assistere a concerti di musica classica e spettacoli teatrali di vario genere.
