“Leap of faith” at S'archittu
The coast of Montiferru (western Sardinia) is a wild area where you can find Mother Nature in her purest state and get the distinct feeling that nothing has changed in years. S’Archittu is a rock arch some 15 meters high that was formed by the action of wind and waves against the limestone. It has become a symbol of the region.
Although the beach surrounding the arch isn't very big (or attractive, or easy to get to…), it’s worthwhile to make a small effort to see the arc, swim beneath it, climb its walls, and take the traditional “leap of faith” from the top. If you’re traveling with family or don’t want to get wet (as was my case…we didn't have very much time and I didn't want to get back in the car with a wet swimsuit) don’t worry: the shoreline near the arch is also a fun area and you’ll find things like tons of tiny sea snails.
