A day in La Alcúdia
Recently, this Elche-lover and traveler decided to take a first-time visit to La Alcudia. La Alcudia is located about 3km. from Elche and consists of 10 acres that have been excavated many times over the centuries. In fact, it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Spain, something surprising since I had no idea about all the discoveries except for the Lady of Elche. She was discovered by Alejandro Ramos Folqués in 1897 and is one of the most important pieces of Iberian art.
In Alcudia, you can also visit a Monograph Museum, Interpretation Center, and of course the archaeological site housing the ruins of Iberian houses, an early Christian basilica, an Iberian temple, Roman Forum, and a Roman house You can follow the signs on the pathway or opt for a guided tour or explore the grounds on a rental bicycle.
