Kilometers of fine golden sand
The main attraction of the small fishing town of Apulia is its wide beach, which is award the blue flag standard for its quality and cleanliness. Along its coast, before even entering the town, you come across kilometers of fine golden sand washed up by the cold waters of the Atlantic. In the sea you will see small fishing boats dotted around. However, along the shore there are many rocks that can be uncomfortable or dangerous to swimmers. There are a variety of seaweeds that are collected by the "sargaceiros", this activity being one of the main industries of the local people.
The beach consists of a large sandy area which calls the attention of a large number of "stalls" composed of wooden structures covered by tarpaulins of different colors, whose function is to protect people from the strong winds that are in the area.
