Aoshima Island

It's an island in the sea. It has a temple on it and can be accessed by a bridge.青 Ao means blue, but can also mean green ( The traffic lights use Ao and their lights are green)-shima 岛 means Island. So blue island. So far, this is the most beautiful beach I've seen in Japan ,although I have not gone to Okinawa yet. The temple is dedicated to Yamasachi-hiko the god of mountain products, the grandfather of the legendary Emperor Jimmu. The legend goes that Yamasachi-jiko came down from the mountain to try fishing with his brother, but lost the fishing rod that he had lent him. While looking for it he met the god of the sea and ended up marrying one of his daughters.

They had a son in Udo-Jingu, but his wife turned out to be a shark and returned to the sea. Then he married another daughter of the sea god and had 4 children, whom the only survivor of the battles was the Emperor Jimmu, who then founded the first capital of Japan in Nara.
