Anuradhapura Station

La gare de Anuradhapura est au nord de la ville, près de l’ancienne station de bus (qui fonctionne toujours, mais c’est pour distinguer la nouvelle station plus au sud). La gare se trouve à l’extrémité de l’avenue Sri Maha Bodhi menant au temple de l’arbre sacré. Le train est une façon agréable de voyager au Sri Lanka, pourvu qu’on ait le temps. Parfois, le retard du train est compté en partie d’une journée, un quart ou même une demi-journée, c’est fréquent. Le train d’Anuradhapura va au nord, vers Kilinochchi, l’ancienne partie rebelle de l’île, et au sud jusqu’en Colombo, en cinq ou six heures. La première classe n’est pas disponible dans tous les trains, la seconde est bien avec des ventilateurs et des fauteuils en cuir. C’est 250RS pour Colombo, mais cela sera probablement plus rapide avec un bus climatisé.

Anuradhapura station is north of the city, near the old bus station (which still works, but it is to distinguish the new station to the south). The station is at the end of the avenue leading to the Sri Maha Bodhi temple of the sacred tree. The train is a great way to travel to Sri Lanka, provided you have the time. Sometimes the train delay is counted part of a day, a quarter or even half a day is common. The Anuradhapura train goes north to Kilinochchi, the former rebel part of the island, and south to Colombo, in five or six hours. The first class is not available on all trains, the second is with fans and leather armchairs. This is 250RS to Colombo, but it will probably be faster with an air-conditioned bus.
