Animals of Pamakkale
Most people believe that there are no living things in Pamukkale because it is a landscape of thick white layers of limestone, filled with minerals and waters containing outrageous quantities of calcium hydrogen carbonate. But if you look closely, you'll be amazed to see that yes indeed there are living things here. The tadpoles are spectacular. I say spectacular because when they're surrounded by all white they stand out much more. They are black and brutally interesting contrast with the landscape, so you can see perfectly every move they make. These tadpoles are only found in a certain area of Pamukkale.
The particular place where we will see these animals is in artificial ponds that were built from 1988 to cover the asphalt ramp that had been built in the middle of the nature reserve to get to the main part. Visitors can access the northern part barefoot. When courses I discovered these animals was at least half an hour engrossed watching each of their movements. I know there are many tadpoles in all rivers, but the view we have of them in this white floor is impressive, you can see it in the photos.
